The Lightning connector doesn’t have much time left to live, according to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

Just days after Kuo said that Apple is working on iPhones that charge via USB-C instead of Lightning, the analyst updated his tweet explaining that the rest of Apple products that work with Lightning would also make the change.

That includes Apple’s AirPods, MagSafe chargers, and mouse and keyboard peripherals.

As for when this will occur, Kuo did not specify beyond “in the foreseeable future”. His initial opinion was that iPhones wouldn’t ditch Lightning until 2023 at the earliest. Apple could choose to phase out Lightning bit by bit, but it might also make sense to move everything to USB-C at the same time.
