New week, new update in Beta for WhatsApp. Today version 2.22.10.14 for Android – available on the Play Store for all subscribers to the program – “introduces” a indicator for end-to-end encryption: mandatory quotes, as the new function is not yet visible, not even for beta testers, as it is still under development. We will then have to understand the possible timing for an actual release on the stable channel.
It is not the first time that WhatsApp insists on reminding us that everything we do on the platform is protected by end-to-end encryption: in December of last year, for example, we found the same wording under the call history and in the status – its updates included – on the version of the app for iOS. Same goes for WhatsApp desktop. On Android, the wording will soon appear in chats too: the footer
Your personal messages are end-to-end encrypted
As WABetaInfo reports, at this point it cannot be ruled out that WhatsApp decides to extend this memorandum to all areas of the app, so that the user is aware of the fact that calls and messages are protected by end-to-end encryption (after all, this is a long way started in 2014). The same goes for WhatsApp for iOS and desktop: they too will soon receive the news for chats, we will probably have to wait for the next beta.
