Apple releases iOS, tvOS and iPadOS 15.6, macOS 12.5 and watchOS 8.7
Almost two months after the last cycle of stable updates, in the past few hours Apple has published the new versions of all its operating systemsdefinitively ending the beta programs in progress that do not concern the software solutions coming this fall.
So let’s talk about the official availability of iOS 15.6, iPadOS 15.6, watchOS 8.7, macOS 12.5 And tvOS 15.6, which have been available for a few hours on all smartphones, tablets, computers and smartwatches currently supported by Apple. Also in this round it is not a question of updates that introduce particularly relevant innovations, if not corrections and small improvements that refine the user experience of some aspects of the operating systems concerned.
iOS and iPadOS 15.6 are perhaps the ones to introduce the largest number of new features, including the ability to pause, rewind, restart and fast-forward sports broadcasts through the TV app (remember that Apple is focusing heavily on this kind of service in the US), as well as some fixes made to Safari, Mail and the settings menu. Regarding iPadOS 15.6, we report that the update also fixes iPad mini 6 charging issues (here our review) detected in recent weeks.
Very marginal news then, as well as those present on all other operating systems, since in the remaining cases we talk about generic fixes to known bugs and problems, as well as a general improvement in stability. Alone macOS 12.5 receives something more, namely a update of the TV application.
In short, the current operating systems they are nearing the end of their life cycleso all the biggest changes are expected in the next major updates such as iOS 16, iPadOS 16 (especially on the iPad M1) and macOS Ventura, which will arrive in the fall. It is not clear if Apple intends to release a further update of the current operating systems between now and September, but if so, we will very soon find ourselves in front of a new beta cycle. We just have to wait to find out if this eventuality will materialize.
