Dublin car blaze extinguished after multiple 999 calls
Firefighters rushed to West Dublin after receiving multiple 999 calls about a huge volume of smoke rising into the clear sky – only to discover that the incident was one burning car.
The Dublin Fire Brigade firefighters quickly brought the vehicle blaze under control and ensured that there was no danger of the fire spreading. The brigade said it had received many emergency calls about the fire, adding: “On bright clear nights, the voluminous smoke produced can lead to multiple 999 calls for a single incident.”
With the barbecue season upon us, the brigade has also issued guidelines to cut down on the risk of fire. Its advice includes not to barbecue inside, on a balcony or on wooden decking; to place the BBQ away from facia/soffit, fences, trees etc; to have a bucket of water nearby; not to have too much alcohol; and never leave the BBQ unattended.
