Microsoft is retrofitting a function for widgets in Windows 11 that can display these notifications directly in the taskbar.
Microsoft will give the widgets in Windows 11 more options for delivering information in the future. Starting this week, the company is rolling out updates that will allow widgets to display notifications in the taskbar. Previously, users had to move the mouse to the widget icon to display the current information.
Most of the time, the weather widget should show current information in the taskbar, Microsoft explains in its Windows Release Health Notes. In the case of current events, however, the other widgets for sports, finance or news should also display announcements there. The company says the widgets will deliver more live updates there.
Update from the Microsoft Store
Users can therefore download the update from the Microsoft Store, it is part of the Web Experience Pack. However, since this week it has also been automatically distributed to Windows 11 computers.
Microsoft goes on to say that the notifications should be quick and clear. If users don’t interact with them, the messages also disappear after a short time. The taskbar would then display weather information again.
Microsoft also points out that users with the current Windows version may not yet be able to see the new function. This could be due to the fact that the widget functions are installed over several weeks and are not available to all customers at the same time.
