Video tour: This is what Gamescom 2022 looks like
A quarter-hour video tour with voonze online shows that the fair could be less disappointing than feared.
With Nintendo, Sony and Activision Blizzard, Gamescom 2022 is missing some top-class exhibitors. This is precisely why it is particularly exciting to see how the trade fair presents itself in the first year after the pandemic.
Heise video journalist Michael Wieczorek therefore walked through all the primary halls 7, 8 and 9 and also paid a visit to the retro area. The many vehicles at the fair are striking, which look nice and take up a lot of space on the sometimes emptier area. Simulations are also a major trend. Never before have there been so many sim racing cockpits to be seen at Gamescom.
Nice and small stalls
The companies that are there have put a lot of effort into the stand design. Bandai Namco or Krafton in particular have come up with nice, bright presentations. While there is little new at Microsoft, there is a lot to see and do. Despite this, the stand is surprisingly small and cramped.

Like many years before, the highlight is the Retro Area and the Indie Arena, where things are slower and there is plenty of time for relaxed gaming, whether old or new. In the case of the indies, the developers usually stand right next to the game stations and bring their vision closer to the willing.
