Instagram for its new changes in the face of user rebellion

Not all changes are good, and sometimes companies fail. What is not particularly common is accepting the error and making it public, and this is what has happened with some of the news that Instagram announced to compete in the best possible way against TikTok. We tell you what happened. The first thing to say is that Instagram must be recognized for assuming that some of the changes do not fit with users, which means that it listens to them. And, honestly, it is not something especially common what we say – neither in social networks nor in hardware manufacturers. The fact is that it has gone back with some modifications that they thought would be positive and the complaints of those who use the application have shown that, quite possibly, that was not the way to go. What will no longer be present on Instagram The step has not been communicated in a text or similar, no, it has been Adam Mosseri himself (great manager of Instagram) who in an interview has been unraveling what is happening and that, at least, Two of the changes that had occurred will be phased out on the platform. These are to reduce the excessive recommendations that exist now and, also, to view content in full screen (yes, in the purest TikTok style). When it comes to full screen, the key to going backwards is the dissatisfaction of users, who demand that Instagram return to its origins as much as possible. So much so that the manager himself has indicated that the usage data is not exactly good, and this has led to going back. That yes, that all the videos are Reels is something that is not going to change, and there the company stands firm. Another of the changes, and perhaps more relevant, is to put an end to the storm of recommendations that currently exist on Instagram. It is true that some things are discovered, but many are those who end up tired of the bomber. So much so that this type of content is 30% of the total in the feed, when on other platforms such as Facebook -also owned by Meta- it is 15%. Therefore, and given that the modification does not work particularly well, it will also return to figures that make more sense. Testing is good, and correcting if it doesn’t work better It’s good that companies try changes in their products to try to improve. Some work well and others not so much. The ideal is not to get stuck and forget to listen to users (in the case we are talking about, several of the most important content creators have complained and were considering leaving Instagram). And this is something that has not happened with the social network and it is very positive that this is the case. Surely this decision, due to the image it reveals, is more positive for the platform than making a thousand changes to resemble TikTok. The important thing on Instagram is the content and those who generate it and, if they feel important, things can only go one way: good. >
