Google Pixel: all the news of the June feature drop
While Apple was busy illustrating the news of its operating systems at WWDC 2022, Google released a new update dedicated to its Pixel smartphones. Not a minor update, since it is the feature drop of June, that is to say of an update that brings with it new features and not simple bug fixes. The owners of a supported Pixel smartphone will benefit from this, from the Pixel 4 up to the recent Pixel 6 and 6 Pro (with some exceptions depending on the specific functions).
THE NEWS FOR JUNE
- pocket operator for Pixel: is a new app compatible with Pixel 5 smartphones and later models dedicated to creating music and video content. At the moment it only supports the English language, but it can also be downloaded by Italian users by connecting to the Play Store.
- option for add screens representing vaccination certificates to the quick links against Covid. However, the function is not available in Italy, but at the moment only in the United States, Canada and Australia.
- three new features in the At a Glance widget (it is the launcher widget that allows you to quickly view the most important information directly on the home and lock screen):
- Nest Doorbell video feed: You will be able to see directly from the lock screen when someone rings the door via the Nest Doorbell smart doorbell
- torch reminder: useful to avoid forgetting the lit torch
- Air Quality Alerts – Feature currently only available if you are located in the United States, Australia and India
- three new wallpapers to celebrate Pride Month
- conversation mode integrated into the Sound Amplifier app (after beta phase): is a deep learning based feature that helps hearing impaired people to hear better by amplifying and filtering sounds. Simply point the smartphone camera at the interlocutor to amplify his voice and reduce background noise. The feature is supported by Pixel 3 and later models.
- Finally, Google recalls that i Real Tone Filter announced at Google I / O 2022 are currently active in Google Photos. They are filters that can be applied to photos to improve the reproduction of skin tones; they can be activated via the edit menu of Google Photos, Filters section.
The update is currently distributed via OTA. You may have to wait a few hours / days before receiving it.
