The most common is to locate an Android phone from another mobile or from a web browser, but it is also possible to find it using Android Auto or, as we are going to show you today, using your Android TV. And there is not only one way: we tell you how to locate your mobile from the comfort of the armchair.
Imagine that you are watching TV, you reach for your mobile and it is not within your reach. The usual thing is that it has been hidden among the cushions, next to the five cent coin and the potato chip, but no: it is not there. Neither on the table, in the room… Well, it’s better not to turn upside down to find it: from your Android TV you have the option to track it.

Three ways to find your mobile from the TV

Google offers a very powerful location service on all phones and tablets, including watches. To do this, it makes use of its Google Play services, a platform that enable the sending of the location whenever the user requests it from their account. This request can be made in three ways regardless of the device:
- From the “Find My Device” app.
- With the Google Assistant.
- Through the Web.
On Android TV, all three methods are enabled, although there is a drawback: the google app is not directly compatible with tvs and players. Of course, you can skip this impediment with a little skill.
Locate your phone from the app

Phone location on Android TV
You can’t install the Google app directly from the Android TV Play Store, but you can. upload the APK of the mobile. Let’s see the process:
- Use the connection method with your Android TV that you prefer. From using a USB flash drive to our favourite: “File Commander PC File Transfer”.
- Download the latest “Find My Device” APK: You can download the latest version from APK Mirror (you may need its installer for Android TV).
- Send the installation file to your Android or put it on a flash drive and connect it to the TV.
- Navigate from a file explorer compatible with Android TV to the location of the APK (we recommend File Commander) and open the installation file.
- Install “Find My Device” on your Android TV and launch it.

- Once installed, open the app, select your Google account, the one with which you have associated the mobile to locate, and type the password.
- You will see the location of the phone on your TV screen. And you can make it sound to locate it, for example.
Find your mobile with the browser

Android TV does not come with a web browser, but you can install one from the store. Even Google Chrome, its operation is well adapted to the TV. Once you have your browser on Android TV, carry out the following process:
- Open the page https://myaccount.google.com/find-your-phone.
- Sign in with your Google account.
- Select the mobile you want to locate. You may have to use a mouse connected to your Android TV.

Ask Google Assistant
It is the most comfortable, but not the most complete: the assistant on Android TV will only make your mobile ring, it will not put it on the map. Also, as you have several devices added to your account, you will have to go one by one telling Google Assistant “No” until you find the chosen one.

The process is simple: launch Google Assistant with your Android TV remote and say “Where’s my phone”. The wizard will ask if you want it to ring; or you can change to the next registered mobile, everything will depend on the ones you have added.
