iOS 16, first public beta in July

Now that iOS 15.5 has also been released, all the attention of developers and public beta testers is certainly projected to the next “major release” of Apple’s operating system which will be announced on June 6 during the opening keynote of the annual conference. of the Cupertino company, the Worldwide Developers Conference.

In addition to iOS 16, of course, iPadOS 16 is also on the way, from which some more news is expected, macOS 13, watchOS 9 and tvOS 16. According to a tweet from Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, public beta testers will probably have to wait a little longer than usual this year. The release of the first public beta of iOS 16, in fact, should take place in July along with beta 3 for developers.

According to Mark Gurman, the internal beta versions of iOS 16 still have some problems

Unlike in recent years, which has usually seen the release of the first public beta alongside the second developer beta (last year in late June), there may be delays. According to Gurman, in fact, the first internal versions of iOS 16 would still be very “buggy” and more development time would be needed to allow the release of a beta that can be used by everyone, not just developers.

Being beta versions, especially the first ones, they are often unstable, full of problems or with functions yet to be implemented. These issues are usually more evident when many new features are implemented compared to previous releases. In recent years, things have always gone pretty well precisely because there have been many “refinements” rather than tweaks to the interface. The first beta of iOS 15, for example, was already usable without particular problems.

The desire to immediately try any news often pushes users to install the first betas on their devices, which is absolutely not recommended especially if it’s your primary device. An operating system with many bugs, in fact, could make it difficult, if not impossible in extreme cases, the regular use even for the simplest operations.

At the moment, despite missing a few days until the announcement, we know very little about the upcoming major releases of iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS and tvOS. Unlike the iPhone 14, of which almost perfect “dummies” have now been made, Apple has managed to keep everything well hidden. The few leaked rumors point to “significant” new features for the graphical interface, updates for notifications and improvements to the Health app. The renewal of some system apps is also likely.
