Nokia CEO Pekka Lundmark has stated that smartphones could cease to be relevant in 2030.
During the World Economic Forum, Lundmark said that 6G would arrive at the end of 2030, but that will be accessed through phones but through devices that will be incorporated directly into our bodies.
“By then, the smartphone as we know it today will not be the most common interface. Many of these things will be built right into our bodies.Lundmark said during the event.
Although he did not specify what kind of devices will replace smartphones in our lives, he said that Things like smart glasses and face-worn devices will be preferred.
What Lundmark is saying may not make sense right now, but companies like Nuralink, run by Elon Musk, are working on devices that can be implanted in the brain. These devices can be used to communicate with machines and other people.
6G is still a distant dream as the world is still adopting 5G, but it will all come.
