Manufacturers launch mobiles knowing that they replace existing ones. They are generational changes and it is very difficult to keep them all up to date, especially in a catalog as wide as Xiaomi’s. That is why it is time to retire the oldest and for this Xiaomi regularly publishes a list of phones that no longer have official support.
The list comes from the web trust.mi.com in which the models that lose their support are indicated. That is, those that will not be updated again by the company. This does not prevent the most popular from continuing to have external support through the ‘cooks’ and their ROMs, but at least the company shelves their existence. They will stay as they are until they stop working.

Xiaomi usually shelves its phones when three years have passed since its launch on the market. In that time they must have received at least two major updates to the operating system and at least an extra year of security updates. On some newer models this is being extended and four years of support are already reached: three for system, one for security patches.
The last to join the list a few days ago have been the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7, Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro and Xiaomi Redmi GO. These are models with three years on the market and will no longer receive any extra updates. The mobiles already discontinued by Xiaomi and that will not receive updates are the following. If your mobile is among them, think about getting a new one.
