A few days ago POCO used his global twitter account to confirm that on June 16 it would unveil the POCO C40. A mobile that even had some leaked specifications ahead of time. Nevertheless, It has been POCO who has confirmed everything about this phone by bringing forward its launch in Vietnam.
This mobile, as the POCO C3 already did in 2020 and the POCO C31 in 2021, incorporates very fair specifications that make it be in the range of cheap mobiles. However, it has several aspects to highlight, such as the biggest screen in its history (said by the brand itself) or a massive 6,000 mAh battery. But there is more.

All that glitters on your screen is not gold

Available in three colors like black, green and yellow, this POCO C40 offers a design that at first glance is already recognizable from the brand. A rear plastic cover with a leading camera module at the top. Added to the distinctive yellow color, there is no doubt that it is a LITTLE.
However, the screen is not that distinctive. With pronounced bezels and according to the range in which it is located, this device offers a 6.71-inch screen that is the largest we have seen in a mobile of this Xiaomi sub-brand. However, their IPS technology and refresh rate at 6O Hz reduce this impact. We could not expect great boasts in a mobile like this, but removing the detail of the size it seems that it stands out little.
A performance that leaves doubts with an unknown chip

It is rare today to find mobiles that do not mount Qualcomm or Mediatek chips. In cheaper ranges it may even be normal to find UNISOC chips. However, this POCO C40 mounts a JLQ JR10 chip About which we can say practically nothing. Neither for good nor for bad. And it is that it is an absolute unknown to the smartphone sector.
We do not know if the processor will be changed when it is launched in other markets or if POCO itself will talk about it, since it does not know anything beyond the fact that it is manufactured by a Chinese company called JLQ. If we look at your RAM and storage We already anticipate that it will not aim very high either, since it is barely accompanied by 4 GB for RAM and storage that today falls short: 64 GB. The latter is expandable by microSD card, yes.
For the battery we find one of lime and another of sand. Have a 6,000mAh capacity is an undoubted point in favor of this terminal, although it hardly has fast charge. In Vietnam it has been launched with a charger of just 10 W and, despite supporting a load of up to 18W with another adapter, it seems quite poor in this section.
We insist on emphasizing that this POCO C40 could host changes when it arrives in other markets, but if the software remains, it will be bad news. And it is that it incorporates a version of MIUI based on Android 11. In the middle of 2022 in which Android 12 is more than operational and Android 13 knocking on the door, software like this seems inconceivable even for an entry-level like this.
Versions and price of the POCO C40

As we said at the beginning, this phone has only been launched in Vietnam. We will have to wait for the announcement of POCO on June 16 to know when it arrives other markets and if Spain is included. It is likely that other versions of this terminal will also be confirmed, perhaps changing the processor and adding more storage. At the moment, this is the only version that can be purchased in the aforementioned Asian country:
