France bans the use of the word “streamer” in the French language

The influence that English has as a global language to facilitate communication between people of different cultures and nationalities is no secret to anyone.

This has meant that over time many countries adopt certain words from English to enrich their language, and that they are part of the conversations that take place on a personal level and in the digital environment.

However, in the case of France, it seems that the government has decided to prevent English from continuing to form part of the daily language of its inhabitants, specifically those belonging to the community that is fond of the technology and video game sector.

Recently, the announcement made recently by the culture Ministry in which it was decreed prohibition on the use of anglicismsconsidering that the words associated with this term are incomprehensible to people who do not hold a position or carry out any activity within these areas.

The reason for this unexpected action by the French government is due to an observation made by the defenders of the French language who condemned the fact that the population adopted words from the English language that do not have a translation in that language that facilitates their understanding by any person from that country.

That means that from this moment within the French region the word streamer will be replaced by the French term joueur-animateur en direct.

It is worth mentioning that this linguistic adjustment must be adopted in a mandatory manner by all state entities.

In the media sector, as well as companies in the sector for now its use is not requiredalthough this may change in the short term.

Regarding this measure, French Academy expressed that the degradation of the language should not be seen as an inevitable thing, accompanying this with a call to companies and media specialized in video games to adopt the term imposed by the French government in order to contribute to the inclusion of the entire population in conversations related to this type of topic or understand what it is about.

Despite the good intentions that the implementation of this measure that seeks maintain the purity of the French language It remains to be seen if over time this could affect the progress of video game companies in the country.
