WhatsApp improves on the privacy front with “advanced chat protection”

A few days after the sighting in the beta version of the app, the WhatsApp team has officially announced the Advanced chat protectiona privacy feature designed to protect the most sensitive conversations.

Today we present a new level of privacy called “advanced chat privacy”. This new setting available both in chats and in groups prevents people from bringing content outside WhatsApp, thus guaranteeing greater privacy.

Whatsapp announces the “advanced chat protection”

Through a dedicated post on the official blog, the WhatsApp team has announced Advanced chat protectiona new optional functionality that users will only be able to enable in chats (single or group) in which they will consider it necessary for privacy issues (given that it guarantees greater control over this aspect).

It adds to other privacy -side features of the popular messaging app (such as i Ephemeral messages and the Chat padlock) and, when enabled, prevents people from bringing the contents present in the chat outside WhatsApp.

If a user activates this feature, the other conversation participants will not be able to export chat, automatically download the multimedia files to the phone and take advantage of the messages for IA features.

The WhatsApp groups are increasingly in an extension of the networks of people in the real world, some of which are much closer than others. We think that this function can be used at best in the groups where you may not know everyone well but whose content are still of a sensitive nature, for example in the event that the participants in a support group speak of health problems or when you want to organize a community focused on a theme that is close to you.
