Let’s go back to dealing with Wear OS 6the next version of the Google’s wrist operating system which is experiencing its development phase which will precede the release in stable form, expected by the end of 2025.
From the Developer Previewalready available through the emulator in Android Studio, new functions continue to emerge that the development team is improving to optimize the user experience on the pixels Watch and on all other wear OS smartwatchs.
Wear OS 6: Two other news emerge coming on the Pixel Watch
During the Google I/O 2025, Google showed the potential of the Redesign in view Material 3 Expressive which will invest Wear OS and will materialize with Wear OS 6the next version of the operating system for smartwatches which (as anticipated) is expected by the end of 2025.
At the end of the opening keynote, then, the Mountain View giant released the first developers Developer Preview which has already allowed us to take a first look at the future of the Wearable Android devices (which among the functions, such as on Android 16 which in fact is the basis, will be able to count on the Live Updates).
In the following weeks they have continued to emerge in progress that Google has not actually announced: among these we have seen the Always-on functional display and a functionality that will improve the use of pixels watch in use in the pool. Two other news emerged recently during the development phase.
Google works to safeguard the pixel watch battery
Analyzing the Developer Preview of Wear OS 6, the well -known Insider Mishaal Rahman has discovered some code strings in the system app Clockworksysysuigoogle which suggest the implementation of a function of adaptive charging (via Android Authority).
When qualified, this function will pause the recharge of the smartwatch (at a certain recharging percentage) and then resume at a specific moment that is in line with the user charging habits.
Charging to full now
Adaptive Charging Overridden
charging will be completed by %1 $ s
Adaptive Charging is on

Ready to go!
The function, which is also deactivable (to recharge the smartwatch up to 100% regardless) seems similar to the one already present on the smartphones of the Pixel range: if so it was, the pixel Watch would stop charging at 80% and then went up to 100% only an hour before the smartwatch is disconnected from the charging base (second, in fact, the user’s habits).
Clues to this sense had already been found in February but, then, they came from the system app Pixel Watch Management Service: The work in progress for this functionality seem to have been in place for some time but, unfortunately, we do not know when it will actually be implemented or, at least, made available for developers and beta testers in the Wear OS 6 development cycle.
Smartphone block when we move away
A functionality called is already available on pixels watch Watch Unlock which makes sure that the smartwatch keep the phone unlocked when the two devices are nearby (and connected via Bluetooth).
So far, however, the opposite has not been possible, that is, if the smartwatch moves away from the smartphone, a feature is not available that goes to block the smartphone. Things could soon change.
Analyzing the version 3.5.0.758720535 Companion Google Pixel Watch app, the usual Assembradebug has found new strings of code that seem to describe a new functionality coming on smartwatches Made by Google (via Android Authority).
phone will lock when it disconnects from your watch, like when it’s doing away
lock phone when left Behind
The new function Lock Phone When Left Behind He will take care to block the smartphone when he disconnects from the smartwatch, or when the two devices are far away (as if we had “forgotten” the phone).
In any case, this function is not yet available for users and seems even not to work. It will probably arrive in the coming months, perhaps with Wear OS 6, to improve the user experience on the safety front.
