Through a blog post dedicated to updates for the WorkSpace Suite, Google has announced the arrival of a new artificial intelligence functionality in the web version of Google Drive.
The storage storage and cloud service of the Mountain View giant has been integrating the potential of artificial intelligence of Gemini for some time: the assistant, which can be used through the lateral pangenel of the web version, is now able to propose summary cards on the PDFs.

Google Drive Web welcomes a new feature thanks to Gemini
At the end of July 2024, Google integrated Gemini in Google Drive to allow users to exploit the potential of the assistant in the interaction with PDF files and, a few months later, has enhanced the functionality, allowing users to recall the side panel of Gemini even when they display a PDF file.
As anticipated at the opening, through a new post on the blog of updates for the Workspace Suite, the development team has announced a further improvement in the whole workflow, with the new functionality Summary cards on PDF.
It is a functionality that aims to save time to users, giving them a general idea of the PDF file and speeding up the interaction with the assistant through tips of actions from which the user can start the action that he wants to make Gemini performed.
How do these summary cards work on PDFs?
When a user goes to open a PDF file from Google Drive, automatically, Gemini will propose a summary card (which contains a summary proactive content) and relevant/clicible actions (to create drafts or make brainstorming on documents/ideas related to the document itself).
If the user goes to click on one of the actions proposed by the Assistant, Gemini will automatically open in the Drive lateral panel to propose the result of this sort of automated prompt.
Functionality Summary cards on Gemini PDFs In Google Drive is available in over 20 languages, including Italian, and has already been in Rollout since yesterday, Thursday 12 June 2025.
On the availability front, this function is available for customers Google workspace with plans Business (Standard and Plus) e Enterprise (Standard and Plus), for customers with additional component Gemini Education (also premium) and for subscribers on the plans Pros And Ultra by Google One.
