We have known for some time that Google Tasks would become the home of reminders at Google and that the Mountain View giant would carry out the last part of the migration, which this time involves Google Keepin the second half of 2025.

The migration actually began this week, announced by Google via a blog post on the Workspace suite updates, and the new “unique” experience for reminders is already reaching the first users. Let’s find out all the details.

Google Keep: Reminders now go straight to Google Tasks

Eighteen months after the announcement, which took place in April 2024, Google has finally started to modify the reminder system integrated into Google Keep to marry the “unique” one in the ecosystem that relies on Google Tasks.

Once we have received this news, already distributed to some users, when we tap on the button “Remind me later” inside a note we will no longer be greeted by the pop-up “Remind me later – Saved to Google Reminders” but from the new pop-up “Remind me later – Your reminders are saved in Google Tasks.”

It does not change the fact that three predefined options are made available to users to set the date and time of the reminder (there is also the “Choose date and time” to manually set the two parameters). However, the options for setting the places (location-based reminders) disappear.

Availability of this novelty

As suggested by Google in the dedicated post on the updates portal for the Workspace suite, the migration of reminders to those from Google Tasks on Google Keep it is already being released starting from October 13, 2025 but it could take at least a couple of weeks to reach all users with a Google account (even a personal one).

It should also be noted that the Google Keep app will stop sending notifications for reminders following receipt of the news: these will only be sent from Google Calendar or Google Tasks (apps which must be installed on the device).

How to update the affected apps

To download or update the app Google Keep: Notes and Lists on an Android smartphone it will be sufficient to reach the dedicated page on the Google Play Store (via the badge below) and tap on “Install” (if you have not installed it) or on “Update” (if it notifies you of the presence of an update).

The procedure is the same to download or update the app Google Tasks on an Android device: just tap on the badge below and select if necessary “Install” or “Update”.
