Google continues to roll out the new update style, the Material You 3 Expressivewhich has affected many of its applications in recent months. Only in the last few weeks have the Pixel series smartphones, Google Maps, Wear OS, Google Docs, Google Wallet, Google Messages and Google Contacts received the new style. Now it’s the turn of the Google Play Store, which is preparing to take on a more modern and uniform look.

How the Google Play Store changes with Material You 3 Expressive

The changes to theGoogle Play Store interface were identified by analyzing the version 48.4.38-31 of the appwhere they appear in the code but are not yet active for the public. It is likely that Google will activate them gradually, as has already happened for other graphics updates, so that it can test user reaction and make any corrections before the full release.

One of the changes already visible concerns the status bar, which now features a slight gradient when scrolling down on the pages dedicated to apps or games. It’s a detail that may go unnoticed by many users, but it helps to give greater visual depth to the interface and better integrate it with the rest of the Android ecosystem.

Additionally, the developers are working on a restyling of promotional cards present on the main screen and in the thematic sections of the Play Store. Until now the text appeared directly within the graphics, but in the future it will be separated and positioned in a dedicated space, making the tidier layout and improving the readability of contents. This is a minimal intervention on a technical level, but useful for making the interface clearer and more coherent with the other graphic elements of the new language.

Another upcoming change concerns theloading indicatorintended to replace the classic wheel that accompanies the wait during page loading. Google is testing a new animated element that pulsates and changes shape, following the more dynamic style introduced with Material 3 Expressive. Even in this case it is not a revolutionary change, but a detail designed to make the user experience more fluid and contemporary.
