After testing its Samsung car solution mainly intended for the Chinese market, the Korean giant would seem to have another novelty on site for its Galaxy smartphones: it is Dex caran unprecedented way to offer an experience similar to Android Auto and Carplay, with an extra gear.

According to information disseminated on the popular social network X (ex Twitter), this new interface would have been discovered within the Samsung software during development, and it is legitimate to expect that it can debut soon in conjunction with the launch of the One UI 8.

What is and how Samsung Dex works works

The peculiarity of DEX car resides in the basic idea, it would not be simply a clone of Android Auto, but of a system capable of operating on a wide range of cars (Over 8,500 models of over one hundred brands according to preliminary information) and, above all, even in the absence of a vehicle compatible.

The shared screenshot, which you can see just below, shows an interface optimized for use to driving, with one central dashboard Where a map for navigation and a musical widget alongside a quick connection to a playlist stands out. One is visible along the left edge of the display vertical applications bar which reports the timetable, a list of recent apps and a button to access the application drawer; Among the apps in evidence include Bixby, the map app, the music app and the Samsung phone.

A curious detail concerns the presence of a Second application bar located at the bottom of the screenwith the classic three -button navigation of Samsung; It is an element that seems to confirm one of the most interesting hypotheses, the Possibility to use dex cars directly on the smartphone displayeven in total absence of a car.

As many of you will remember, Google has interrupted the Android car experience for phone screens for a few years now, leaving a void that various third -party apps have tried to fill with alternate results. Auto Dex could therefore represent a direct response to this need, offering a safe and simplified interface to use the phone in car mode even without a multimedia system compatible on board the vehicle.

A hypothesis that appears consistent with the Samsung strategy to enhance Dex, the desktop mode of the Galaxy, in increasingly versatile and transversal contexts, and which could contribute to further differentiating the One UI ecosystem from the competition.

At the moment there are no certainties regarding the timing of the release of the dex car, nor the geographical areas that will be involved in the initial phase; Since Samsung Auto has been reserved mainly for the Chinese market, it remains to be understood if this new interface will also arrive in Europe, or if it will be launched first on a limited scale.

It is not clear even the complete list of supported apps and the level of integration with the navigation and assistance services for third -party driving, however the imminent presentation of the One UI 8 on the new folding Galaxy represents a perfect opportunity to find out more, and it is therefore not excluded that the company can provide further details shortly.

Waiting for any official confirmations, Car Dex is a candidate as one of the most curious and potentially useful news of the Samsung ecosystem, if the rumors are confirmed they could fill a void left by the farewell of Android Auto for smartphones and offer a truly universal smart experience, regardless of the car that is driving, or by the fact of having one.
