A few days after the announcement of the launch date of OxygenOS 16, OnePlus announced theopening of the Open Beta program for the next version of the custom interface, based on Android 16.
Waiting for the presentation, which will take place on October 16, 2025users can therefore preview the next version of OxygenOS on some of the company’s most recent flagship smartphones. However, two elements are controversial: the program is currently limited to a single market (spoiler, no Europe) and to access it it is necessary to “pass” an application questionnaire. Let’s find out all the details.
OxygenOS 16: the Open Beta program starts
With the aim of accelerating the development of OxygenOS 16the OnePlus team has announced the opening of the Open Beta program with which users will be able to preview the next version of the customized interface on their smartphone from the Chinese manufacturer.
We’re incredibly excited to share something we’ve been waiting to announce for a while: the Open Beta Test for OxygenOS 16 is officially here!
This marks the next big step in the evolution of OxygenOS, which continues to push performance, design and fluidity to new heights. With each release, we’ve learned from your feedback, ideas, and experiences, and this Open Beta is yet another opportunity for you to take OOS16 for one last test drive before its public debut!
Thanks to the Open Beta Test (OBT), you will be among the first to explore OxygenOS 16 immediately after launch, try its new features and share your thoughts directly with the team. Your participation helps us refine the system, fix any bugs promptly, and ensure that the final version is truly built around you, our community.
Program limitations, compatible devices
The “sore notes” of this program Open Beta they concern its not very “open” nature: at least at this stage, the program is available exclusively for Indian users. We don’t know if it will ever be rolled out to users Global.
On the device front, only the latest two generation flagships are currently supported:
- OnePlus Open
- OnePlus 12R
- OnePlus 12
- OnePlus 13R
- OnePlus 13
- OnePlus 13s
How to join the Open Beta program
To join the program (from 9 to 13 October), users will have to reach the dedicated page on the OnePlus community portal, select the specific link for the smartphone in their possession, check the eligibility criteria (the smartphone must be updated to a specific version) and follow the detailed application instructions provided by the smartphone (at the path “Settings > About device > Updated > More > Schedule Beta”).
The application process, an element that makes the program “closed” rather than “open”, requires interested users to face a questionnaire of ten questions (with 30 minutes of time) which must be answered correctly to more easily ensure access to the program (via Android Authority).

Once the application has been approved (within 5 days of it), the update package containing the preview build of OxygenOS 16 can be downloaded directly from the smartphone (it will be distributed via OTA). OnePlus specifies that the user’s data will not be deleted but still recommends making a backup.
