The OnePlus 15 teardown reveals a bitter truth

The Chinese portal WekiHome has performed a teardown of the Chinese variant of OnePlus 15giving us the chance to take a more in-depth look at the technical specifications of the new smartphone. From the images shared on YouTube we can clearly see the huge carbon silicon battery 7300mAhdecidedly larger in size than the 6000 mAh module we saw above OnePlus 13.

However, what struck the reviewer negatively is the photographic sector of the new top of the range. Despite OnePlus praised the camera OnePlus 15 Due to the various improvements introduced, the new sensors represent, on paper, a worsening compared to the last generation.

The entire rear photographic sector of the smartphone represents a step backwards on a technical level, with smaller sensors and a dimmer aperture than those seen on OnePlus 13. Although the total number of megapixels remains the same, the company has replaced all the sensors and abandoned the collaboration with HASSELBLAD in favor of the Lumo Imaging System from OPPO.

OnePlus 15 OnePlus 13
Front camera 32 MP Sony IMX709 sensor 1/2.74″, f/2.4 32 MP Sony IMX615 sensor 1/2.74″, f/2.4
Main rear camera 50 MP Sony IMX906 1/1.56″ sensor, f/1.8, OIS 50 MP Sony LYT808 1/1.4″ sensor, f/1.6, OIS
Ultra-wide angle camera 50 MP OmniVision OV50D 1/2.88″ sensor, f/2.0 50 MP Samsung S5KJN5 sensor 1/2.75″, f/2.0
Camera with periscope zoom 50 MP Samsung S5KJN5 1/2.75″ sensor, f/2.8, OIS 50 MP Sony IMX882 1/1.95″ sensor, f/2.6, OIS

However, we all know that the hardware only does part of the work and that most of the final result of a photograph is given by thesoftware processing and artificial intelligence. The shots shared by OnePlus they show a very respectable camera, as we were also able to see in our test in Prague.

The teardown then continues showing other interesting aspects of OnePlus 15such as the improved speakers and the larger steel vapor chamber than the one seen above OnePlus 13. If you are interested, you can watch the full video directly on YouTube below.
