Google Pixel Watch 1st generation receives October 2025 update

Almost three weeks after the release of the October 2025 update on the second and third generation Pixel Watches, Google closes the circle, releasing the October 2025 update also for the Google Pixel Watch “original”.

Unlike what happened on the following two models, which tied the Pixel Watch 4 by receiving Wear OS 6 based on Android 16, the first generation model seems destined to end its career with Wear OS 5.1 (based on Android 15).

Google Pixel Watch updates but without a career-ending gift

Google Pixel Watch debuted on the market in 2022 with the version 3.5 of Wear OS, based at the time on Android 11. Over the years, the smartwatch has received Wear OS 4 (Android 13), Wear OS 5 (Android 14) and, more recently, Wear OS 5.1 (Android 15).

On the occasion of the release of the October 2025 update for the second and third generation Pixel Watches we underlined the fact that Google had to decide whether or not to grant a end of career gift to the first generation model.

Apparently, net of upheavals, this will not happen. Software support for the Google Pixel Watch is officially guaranteed “until at least October 2025” and the new update remains right on Wear OS 5.1 like the previous one.

The build being distributed is the BW1A.251005.003.W1 (replaces the BW1A.250605.004 distributed in June) on both the Bluetooth/Wi-Fi model and the LTE model of the smartwatch. The security patches remain those of June 2025.

The first Pixel Watch is therefore a serious candidate for never know the restyling in sauce Material 3 Expressiveat least as regards the operating system: the apps, in fact, will continue to be updated via the Google Play Store.
