The team behind it Google Photos is working to give a further touch of personalization to the function dedicated to Memory Videos, i.e. those short montages that the app creates starting from the photos and videos saved in the gallery. In fact, it seems that very soon the editor will be updated with the introduction of many new functions, including pre-set templates, the possibility of adding music to the video and even superimposed texts.
In the last few weeks Google Photos has been hit by a wave of innovations that have made the default gallery app of the Mountain View giant’s smartphones even more complete. The new image editor was recently introduced, while users in the US can unlock further capabilities with conversational editing and integration with Veo 3 for video creation.
Analyzing version 7.50 of Google Photosour colleagues at Android Authority were able to activate a feature that will probably arrive here very soon too, namely an improved editor for the creation of Memory Videos.
How it will improve the creation of Memory Videos on Google Photos
At present, creating a Souvenir Video on Google Photos It starts by manually selecting images or videos depicting certain people, places and objects, then letting the application automatically generate a video. With the new update, however, Google reverses the approach: the first step to take is to choose a model, or templatewhich determines the visual and sound style of the video.
Each template includes a pre-set editing sequence, accompanied by a dedicated soundtrack and pre-built sample text overlays. At the moment, templates have been identified within the app that refer to the autumnal atmosphere, hobbies or summaries of a trip, but it is likely that they may change dynamically based on the time of year or the type of content saved within Google Photos. You can take a look at the new editor in action in the video below.
The choice of music that accompanies these models is also interesting, since there are not only songs present royalty free but also commercial tracks that suggest the use of music licenses. Once you have selected your preferred template and the content you want to include, Google Photos it will provide you with a video montage already complete with phrases suitable for sharing on social media, which you can however modify as you wish before completing the procedure.
Although these functions are not yet officially available, they are already present in the code of the latest available version of Google Photos. It is very likely that Mountain View is testing the update internally before a gradual release on the server side or via app update, which could arrive over the next few weeks.
