Yesterday evening, in addition to having released the (probable) last part of the October system update bulletin, Google released a new Google Play system update on their Pixels of the stable channel which brings this parameter to “1 October 2025”.

This update, which comes four weeks after the previous one, further confirms the fact that the problems experienced by Pixel users over the summer (which forced the Mountain View giant to interrupt these updates for a period after officially recognizing the problem) are a distant memory.

New Google Play system update for Pixels

Just under a month after the previous update, Google has returned to release a new Google Play system update on its devices running Android 16 QPR1 in stable form.

The new update to “October 1, 2025”which replaces the previous one (as of “September 1, 2025”), is downloaded and installed without problems from the device. The update package weighs 34 MB but is not accompanied by an exhaustive changelog: as usual, we talk about improvements to the stability of the device and from a security perspective.

How to install this type of updates

Google Play system updates can be downloaded and installed by following the appropriate path in the system settings, i.e “Settings > Security & Privacy > System & Updates > Google Play System Update”; on Pixels, starting from Android 16 QPR1, it is also possible to follow the alternative route “Settings > System > Software Updates > Google Play System Update”.

At that point, just tap on “Check for updates” and/or up “Download and install” (or even on “Restart” in case your smartphone has already downloaded the update independently). Once the download process is complete, you will need to restart your device. After the restart, on the same screen as before you will find the wording “1 September 2025” instead of “1 August 2025”.
