Gemini “Learn” from past conversations and becomes more contextual/personal

In March we had spoken that Gemini would soon become more “contextual” and “personal” against the user, learning to draw from the chronology of research and the chronology of conversations to build a sort of memory that would allow the assistant to provide even more useful answers to the user.

All this becomes reality as part of the personal contextjust announced by Google, an option that (when active) means that the assistant remember the key details and preferences shared by the usermaking the conversations more natural and relevant.

Being able to take into account what we have conversed in the past, Gemini will be able to suggest/create something that is thought of someone who “knows us” (or who knows what we wanted to show/tell about our account).

Functionality personal context It will be implemented starting today for adult users, in some selected countries, and for those who use the model 2.5 Pro of the assistant: in the future (we speak of “next weeks”), the support will be extended to the model 2.5 Flash and to other countries.

The setting connected to personal context It will be active of default but, through the impistations of the assistant, it will be possible to disable it (and reactivate it) at any time. In addition, in the section Activities of the Gemini apps It will continue to be possible to manage and eliminate conversations.

Temporary chats land in Gemini’s app

The first evidence emerged in June and we discovered some more details but now it is official: Google has announced the function Temporary chat For Gemini, designed to ensure that users can interact with the assistant as if they used a sort of “unknown navigation”.

The function is designed for those situations in which we want to interact with the assistant by starting conversations that concern slightly more “private” themes or, more simply, to talk about topics that exist from our usual lifestyle.

These chats will not be inserted in the chronology of conversations, will not be used for customization purposes and will not be used to train the Google artificial intelligence models.

They will come preserved for 72 hoursso that we can resume a conversation (in the short term) without finding the completely unprepared assistant. The rollout of Temporary chat It starts already today and will be available for all users in the coming weeks.

New settings to improve data control

The latest news of the day concerns the updating of the way in which Google manages the contents (including files and images) uploaded by users on the Gemini app: in the coming weeks, the setting Activities of the Gemini apps (reachable from this link) will be renamed in Keep activities.

When the setting is active, Google will keep a champion of future loads (starting from September 2, 2025) as a “contribution” to improve the services offered to everyone: to prevent the Mountain View giant from doing this, it will converge this option or exploit the new ones Temporary chat.
