The first evidence arrive in the iOS version of Google app but, soon, the new logo could also reach the app for Android and replace the “old” Great G in all the places where it is present.
Google gives a new look at the big g
Google has updated his logo for the last time in September 2015 and now, in May 2025 (as well as a few days after Google I/O 2025), it is changing it. For the moment, we start from Big gsymbol (among other things) of Google apps.
The two images below allow us to steal the differences between the old and the new logo, which leaves the four areas of plain color, clearly separated from each other, in favor of a “continuous” solution, with the colors that blend in the transition between one and the other (from red to yellow, from yellow to green and from green to blue).
The new gradient philosophy is in line with what the Mountain View giant has chosen for Gemini and, more generally, for its artificial intelligence services (also the shortcut for the To fashions It has the nuance in the transition between the four colors).
For the moment, the only place where we can actually find the new Big g It is the Google app for iOS: after an update distributed yesterday, the app earned the new logo (the same thing happened inside the widget). Soon it could (and should) be the round of the counterparty for Android
It is not clear whether this treatment will also be reserved for the logo with six letters of the Mountain View giant or if it will remain exclusive to the Big g. In the same way, it is not clear whether this passage to the gradient will also be adopted in all other services and in all the other apps of the company. Surely, we will be able to discover something more about the Google I/O 2025 next week (or perhaps already in The Android Show | I/O Edition tomorrow evening).
Change the icon also on Google App for Android
Update of 12/05/2025 – 9:50 pm | With the version 16.18.37 Beta by Google apps, the Mountain View giant has brought the new icon of the Big g also in the counterparty for Android.
The new icon, also present in the splash screen which is shown to the opening of the app, does not replace the old one everywhere, still present in the search bar (persistent in the lower part of Pixel Launcher) and in the various widgets of the app. Possibly, all changes of the case will be implemented gradually.
