Just a few hours ago we talked about Gemini To tell you about two innovations in development and which will soon expand the potential of the assistant. Now let’s go back to dealing with the Google assistant based on artificial intelligence for a peculiarity of the assistant’s mobile app.
The Mountain View giant is distributing a possibility on “traditional” smartphones that has so far been limited to some folding smartphones and some tablets, or one shortcut for the use of the divided screen assistant app.
Gemini’s “divided screen” experience arrives on traditional smartphones
At the end of October 2024, Google implemented a novelty for the Gemini app with the aim of improving multitasking experience on devices from the big screen: devices such as Google Pixel Fold, Google Pixel Tablet or some folding and tablet of Samsung.
On these devices it was enough to drag the handle of the assistant to one of the two half of the screen to activate the divided screen mode. In the last few hours, this potential has also landed on traditional smartphones.
Just open any app, invoke the assistant’s overlay, press and hold the handle present in the upper part of the pill to drag it on one of the half of the screen and start the divided screen mode: the previously open app will share the screen with the Gemini app.
The following video shows this potential in action on a Google Pixel 7 Pro but it seems that availability is wide on the smartphones of the Pixel range, regardless of the version of the operating system between Android 16 QPR1, Android 16 QPR2 Beta or Android Canary, as long as the device is installed the version 16.35.63.sa.arm64 Beta by Google apps, the real “home” of the functionality of the assistant on Android devices. We received it on all devices that respect these restrictions.
How to download or update Gemini app
Gemini It is officially available in Italy both as a web app (on the site https://gemini.google.com/app) and as “app” for Android devices (it is always part of the Google Apps, on a par with Google Assistant), with the app on the Google Play Store app which can be reached via the badge below.
Net of the connection to functionality, it is good to verify that the most recent version of Google app Which, as mentioned, is the true “container” of the assistant based on the artificial intelligence of the Mountain View giant: to do so, just make a tap on the underlying badge and, again, on “Update” in the event that the presence of an update is reported.
