It seems that Google has started to distribute to some beta testers of Google apps, the home of the function Circle and seeka new potential called Scroll and Translate which aims to evolve the translation potential already offered by the function.

It goes beyond the translation of the static content, revealing itself potentially ideal for the translation of changing content such as videos and web pages. Parallel, the development team is working on something similar but called Live Translate. Let’s find out what it is.

Cerchia and looking for the new “Scroll and translate”

As anticipated at the opening, the circle functionality is looking for a new potential called Scroll and Translatetranslatable into Italian with a simple “Scroll and translate” (via Android Authority).

This novelty evolves the potential for translation of the content on the screen available so far with circle and searching. The current version has a large limit: it is able to translate only the content of a snapshot, forcing users to call it every time the content on the screen changes.

The new Scroll and translateon the other hand, it is designed for changing content (such as video) or scrolling (such as web pages), translating everything that goes on on the screen in real time and allowing the user to continue scrolling on the screen.

As you can see from the following video, the function loses some time for the processing as we scroll, taking care to translate all the text content on the screen in the desired language (currently, the function does not allow you to make clippings of portions of the screen).

There are no dedicated buttons in the first function to activate Scroll and translate: to exploit it, we will have to invoke Circle and seekselect the translation button and, only at this point, select the proposal Scroll and translate.

On the screen, at the bottom, a small pill pop-up will appear that warns of the ongoing translation (also underlining the language in which the textual content is translated) and which presents the “X” button to stop the translation.

One last thing to say concerns the non -perfect execution of the function: as you can see from the following screenshots, the original language text is visible (albeit very faded) behind the translated text.

We do not know when this function will be made available to all users: it seems that the Rollout is temporarily limited to Pixel users who perform the last beta of Google app.

In the original Google plans, this function should have had a different name

The well -known Insider Assembradebug He had already identified (and activated) the functionality inside the Google apps, noting that Big G was referring to it with the name of Live Translatehowever, proposing to users a different “access door” (via Android Authority).

From the following screenshots you can see the presence of a “app drawer” (not yet released to users) in the bar Circle and seekwithin which there are translation tools, searching for songs and, in fact, this Live Translate.

Once activated, this function asks for users if they want to share the entire screen with it or just an app. The actual behavior, however, is very similar to the one we talked about just above regarding Scroll and Translate (the two potentials are superimposable).

Unlike the Scroll and Translatepotentiality Live Translate It is not available for beta testers and even seems to be not fully operational. On pixels there is already a real -time translation function, so Big G may have decided to set aside the plans to implement Live Translate in Circle and seekopting just for Scroll and Translate.
