The QR codes scanner Integrated in the Android operating system is receiving a sort of restyling that makes the user interface cleaner.

Google had promised this novelty in May but so far it had never started the release: in the last few hours the music has changed and the new interface is reaching all users.

NEW UI IN ROLLOut for the Android QR codes scanner

Google has recently released the new section dedicated to system apps and services for beta testers and, always speaking of the Android system, has recently started the Rollout, this time for all users, of one New user interface for the QR codes integrated in Android.

The novelty had been announced by the Mountain View giant inside the Changelog of the Google Play system update of May 2025, speaking of the version 25.19 of the Google Play Services system app (released from 19/05/2025) but so far it had never been seen:

[Smartphone] We updated the user interface in the QR codes scanner to improve the overall user experience.

The following image compares the old and the new UI. At a glance, the differences are not many but there are: the upper part receives a simplification, coin the introduction of the name of the functionality above (Scan QR code) and the removal of the “X” button, of the key to activate the flash and the key to send feedback.

These three buttons have been repositioned below, inside a floating buttons bar that also includes the previous one “Scands from photo“; In all cases, the buttons are without label. Even the” viewfinder “has been revised, with the four corners of the frame that are thicker and more evident. Users, to avoid redundancies, the wording disappears “Scan qr code”.

Although the announcement took place almost two months ago, the actual release has started only in the last few hours and the new UI of the Android QR scanner is reaching users on the server side (and therefore gradually): we also do not yet see it on many devices.
