Soon, Gemini will change the way to interact with Android apps

If you use the Gemini app and you have received a slightly email ambiguous From Google, rest assured because you are not the only ones. On social networks and various online forums it is easy to find many reports, for example that of the user @Theonecid on X or that of the user aggiesal on the forum Democratic underground.

The email suggests that the development team has “Simplified the interaction of Gemini with your device“, Speaking of the interaction with some of the assistant apps (the former Extensions) on Android devices. Specifically, as anticipated at the opening, the interaction method of the assistant with phone, messages, WhatsApp and with usefulness will change.

In a nutshell, the assistant will have access to these apps regardless of whether they are active or deactivated. This will come into force starting from 7 July 2025 but Google explains that, if the user does not want to exploit these features, he can still disable them from the Gemini settings.

Unfortunately, however, Google does not explain how to do it (given that, just before, there was talk of “regardless of whether they are active or deactivated”) and, especially for those who would not like to give access to such information, it could be a privacy side problem.

It is likely that the support team has yet to update the Gemini App Privacy Center To include this change and, consequently, we will return to the subject when this will happen.
