Apple does not allow credit/debit cards for apps in India

Recently, the news of puzzled customers in India was cleared up. These indicate that they cannot make any type of purchase or subscription to be made with any credit or debit card corresponding to applications that have their Apple ID. That is to say that the App Store would no longer have any type of action or service available for India in terms of applications.

No more credit cards for Apple

The only solution for Indian consumers is have your money directly in your Apple funds, similar to how it would be with a prepaid card. According to medium The News Minute, now users will have to have a subscription to have money deducted from their account. As for users who are new, they will have the possibility to integrate their bank account information along with their Apple ID when they configure their new devices.

The declaration from Apple, from Support April 18 included the margins for this situation. India would stop using cards given the regulations applied for recurring transactions. That is to say that now users in India with cards of some type that also have a subscription will see their transactions affected. The problem comes from these transactions that can be rejected by the banks themselves.

Apple has decided, in its own way, to try to solve this problem putting your money in the apple id. If you are an Indian user, you can add balance to your Apple ID using App Store, Net Banking, and UPI codes.

As for Twitter users, they have not been long in coming and are making multiple complaints regarding this case. For some customers who were in the process of purchasing, the card not compatible message appeared directly. The user @kgvarunkanth uploaded a screenshot to this social network to better explain the methods of adding balance to your account.

This process started from October 2021

The process of getting to this trouble spot is not entirely Apple’s fault, as the rules and reforms on the part of the Reserve Bank of India or RBI forced this new system. Such standards require client approvals under “Additional Authentication Factors (AFA)”. These new factors mean that transactions made periodically are no longer compatible with the cards. The AFA will no longer allow these transactions as they require verification.

These regulations force Apple to have to reform its system, since it has had to implement new electronic mandates for customers and their accounts. This means that customers now also have to authenticate themselves in two ways and have electronic mandates for recurring payments. These are not all the changes, because in addition to purchases greater than 5,000 rupees they will have to issue separate consents.

Under all these events, Apple is left with nothing but recommend the balance via Apple ID, both to customers and app developers in that country. In addition, as support for developers, they will be allowed longer billing periods, also helping customers so that this authentication process is solved in time.
