Adorable newborn kitten recovering after being found infested with maggots in Dublin garden

A newborn kitten discovered in a Dublin back garden is making a steady recovery after being rescued by an animal charity last week.

The tiny kitten, named Solo by volunteers at the DSPCA, is believed to have been accidentally left behind in a garden in Artane when her mother moved her litter to another location.

The kitten was spotted by a kind member of the public and brought to the DSPCA’s shelter in Rathfarnham. Solo was treated by vets after being infested with maggots and will make a full recovery.

The distinctive white kitten is being fed every two hours by dedicated volunteers.

A DSPCA spokeswoman said: “For a little kitten so young and vulnerable, it’s a full-time job and a huge commitment to take on.

“Today we had such lovely news – Solo opened her eyes and is doing really well. She still has a long road ahead of her, but with the care and love she’s receiving from her wonderful foster angel Laura, we know she’s in the best place.”

The DSPCA is also urging pet owners to make sure their cats are neutered.
