There are exactly 43,973 ways to sharpen an image using Photoshop, give or take 43,950 or so. That being said, I do get quite a lot of folks asking me how I sharpen my images, and as it happens I kind of like the results I get, so, why not make a video. Can’t argue with that logic, no?
The technique is hardly complicated, and is based on the commonly used High Pass filter + Blending Modes sharpening approach, which has been used (and overused) for years. As I state in the video, there are ways to get more refined results, and ways to control and fine tune the results as well. But to get the job done quickly, especially when prepping an image for online use in a hurry (e.g. downsampling it for web use like on Facebook), this method works pretty decently. You can see the results of this technique, and similar ones, on my own Facebook page and judge for yourself (warning: glamour).
I’ll be publishing a tutorial going into more detail about more sharpening approaches this spring, among others.
