Google has launched the first public beta of Android 13 and those who have a compatible phone can now install it.
Apparently on the Pixel 6 Pro it has appeared a Face Unlock option after installing the latest version of Google’s operating system. Right now it is not possible to actually use this function.
Pre-launch marketing material and code snippets indicate that Google was indeed planning to include Face Unlock functionality on the Pixel 6 Pro.
The Pixel 6 Pro does not feature any unlock camera hardware, so It looks like Google will be using the phone’s 11MP front camera and internal Tensor chip.
According to a recent report, Google is working on bringing the feature to the phone, and the current plan is to ship it with the next batch of new features, which is expected to arrive in June.
The Pixel 6 Pro has a fingerprint scanner, but it would be very interesting if it were complemented by a facial unlocking system.
The Pixel 6 is one of the best Android phones out there right now, thanks to its excellent cameras, and the addition of this new feature will further enhance its appeal.
