YouTube wants to renew the recommendations it shows on the Home page with a new option to discover new videos and channels.
If you think that the YouTube feed always shows you the same results, you will be interested in knowing the new dynamics that it is implementing in its Android app.
YouTube adds a new option to discover videos
YouTube wants to improve its recommendation system on Android with a new “New to you” tab. An option that you will find in the carousel or ribbon that appears at the top of the home page.
If you take a look, you will find that YouTube now shows the Explore, All tabs, and a series of filters as suggestions to find videos on topics of interest to us. But with the update, the “New for you” tab will gain prominence, distinguished by being the only one with colors.
And no, it does not follow the same dynamic as “Explore”. The idea is that this new tab shows recommendations to users beyond the usual recommendations, although they will remain within their interests. But you may come across channels or programs that you don’t know, and that revolve around your previous searches or reproductions.
If you spend a lot of time on YouTube, this new dynamic may allow you to discover new interests or channels that are not within your subscriptions. So beyond the trends, main filters and the personalized feed that you find when you enter your YouTube account, you will have this new selection of recommendations.
Apparently this new option is not available globally. The Google team mentioned that “New to you” would start rolling out starting this month. So if you still don’t see this new tab, you will have to wait a few weeks for the update to complete.
