YouTube is improving its feature for purchases in live broadcasts with a new update.

The idea is that content creators have more options when configuring the products that they will show in their broadcasts.

New feature to sell on live streams

When a YouTube creator wants to showcase a new product on their live stream, they have to pre-load all the details so that they are available at the time of the presentation. However, this system has a problem.

Viewers see the new product before the creator officially launches it during the broadcast. So if he was interested in creating expectations, or launching them as a surprise, this YouTube dynamic ruined the plans.

A problem that will be fixed with the new YouTube update, since the dynamics change completely. As the YouTube team mentions in a video shared on the Creator Insider channel, viewers will not know what this new product is about until it is the time indicated by the creator:

Viewers will be able to see a mystery product tagged on the product shelf and product list until it is revealed. As the product gets closer to its availability date and time, you will see a time bar below the title and description

How to configure the new YouTube feature for live broadcasts

To do this, creators will need to schedule their product to launch directly in YouTube Studio, setting the launch date and time. That way, no details will be shown to attendees until launch time.

And of course, the creator will have everything they need in the YouTube interface to control all the details of the launch, and that their presentation is according to schedule. For example, he will have a timer that will indicate how long until the product becomes visible to all users.

And if you want, you can even pin the product in the chat, or archive the broadcast for your followers to see it at a later time, among other options. The YouTube video discusses the requirements for using this feature, as well as the steps for those who want to connect it with their Shopify stores.
