With the usual dizzying pace of Xiaomi launches, the Redmi Note 12 already have substitutes. At least in China. In the Asian country, the new series of the Redmi Note 13 that Presumably they will arrive globally in the coming months. The basic model is the Redmi Note 13 5G.

If we look at photographs of the new Redmi Note 13 5G, we probably will not see excessive changes, but there are. Keeps edges straight on its sides, but it has managed reduce all its dimensions and lose 15 grams comparing it with its predecessor.

Of course, it does not reduce in any way its 6.67 inch screen diagonal in a panel that is once again OLED and whose refresh rate continues to reach 120 Hz, including a FullHD+ resolution. The only apparent variation, and it is not positive, is that Its maximum brightness drops to 1,000 nits. The Redmi Note 12 5G came with 1,200, which is not a big difference, but it is still a cut.

On the other hand, it maintains the same button layout that we had been seeing in its predecessor. Thus, it places the volume keys and the lock button on the same right side, which, by the way, houses the fingerprint sensor. At the top is the 3.55 mm jack that remains and below is the USB-C, leaving the SIM tray as the only element on the left side.

Goodbye Qualcomm, hello MediaTek (at least in China)

We do not know if the presumed arrival of the Redmi Note 13 5G will arrive with identical hardware, since the same elements do not always change in the version that Xiaomi launches globally. In any case, we know that the only one presented to date comes with a MediaTek Dimensity 6080 accompanied by configurations of 6, 8 or 12 GB of RAM LPDDR4X type and UFS 2.2 storage 128 or 256 GB.

Nothing goes beyond the battery standards and it is not something negative a priori, given that it has a 5,000 mAh capacity which should be enough to withstand days of intensive use. Something more reprehensible seems to be 33W fast charging seeing the advances in this field, although we must not ignore that this is a mobile phone fitted into the economical mid-range.

We can say little or nothing about the cameras at the moment beyond reviewing the data offered by Xiaomi. We will find a 16 megapixel sensor for selfies and in the rear again presence of a 2 megapixel depth sensor. The star is the new main sensor up to 100 megapixels doubling what the Redmi Note 12 5G offered, although we already know that not only megapixels are important.

Few surprises in the software, luckily. This terminal comes with MIUI 14 based on Android 13, being a version of the Chinese cape for now. It will be necessary to see if upon arrival in Spain MIUI 15 debuts, a version that would theoretically be adapted to the imminent Android 14.
