Xiaomi launches portable SSD with 1TB storage and speeds up to 2,000MB/s

Xiaomi announced this Thursday (15) the launch of its new portable storage unit with advantageous capacity and performance. The Mobile SSD 1 TB is the Chinese company’s new bet on the hardware market that focuses on portability and agility in transferring files between different platforms.

With a sturdy aluminum body, the device has different connectivity interfaces, including USB 3.2 Gen 2×2, USB 3.2 Gen 2, USB 3.2 Gen 1 and USB 2.0. The SSD also comes with USB-C to USB-C and USB-A to USB-C cables, ensuring most mobile phones, tablets or computers are compatible.

The broad compatibility strategy allows the device to be used to transfer files on older operating systems including Windows 7, macOS X 10.6, Android 9, Ubuntu 16 and their respective later versions.

The SSD is capable of delivering read and write speeds of up to 2,000 Mbps. This means that the peripheral is capable of transferring a medium-length movie at 4K resolution in just about 1 minute. The model works smoothly between temperatures from 0º to 40º C.

price and availability

Xiaomi’s Mobile SSD 1 TB is available through crowdfunding at the brand’s official store. It’s possible get it before official sales for Â¥649 (about R$499)🇧🇷 At the end of the campaign, the hardware will be sold in China with a suggested retail price of 799 yen (about R$610). For now, there is no forecast for release in other countries.
