WishFlix: pirated movie and series site appeals to Telegram after being kicked out of GitHub

Piracy remains a major problem for movie studios around the world. The Italian police have already disabled Telegram channels with almost half a million users for this reason and now WishFlix, a portal that distributes Netflix, Prime Video and Disney Plus series, also decided to migrate to the WhatsApp rival after being kicked out of TikTok and from Github.

WishFlix gained attention after going viral on TikTok with a video that featured the site and garnered more than 1 million views, attracting the attention of several production companies such as StudioCanal, which sued it for airing the French series. La Flame.

After this episode, WishFlix migrated to GitHub, where it remained for a few months until ALPA, the French copyright organization for audiovisual productions, intervened demanding that all content be removed.

Now WishFlix has migrated to its own channels on Telegram to keep its users informed about its return, as a website of its own is under development with a French provider to distribute the series and movies without charging any fee.

According to ALPA and French enforcement agencies, recurrent piracy can result in up to 6 years in prison for those responsible and a fine of 1 million euros, about R$5.2 million reais.

In its defense, WishFlix claims that it does not host the videos with movies and series, as they are only embedded from third-party sources on their website.
