Microsoft released on Wednesday (25) a new version of Windows 11 for Insiders. Build 25284 offers several bug fixes and brings new widgets to the operating system taskbar — including both native and third-party developer elements. For now, the news is only available to subscribers of the Dev channel.

Announced by Microsoft itself, one of the new widgets belongs to Facebook Messenger. The block allows you to view the last messages received on the Meta platform. For this, you need to be running the latest version of the app, which can be updated through the Microsoft Store. See the screenshot below:

The company took advantage of the announcement of the Messenger widget to emphasize the Windows App SDK 1.2, the latest version of the software development kit for Windows that brings several improvements for creating widgets for third-party applications.

Parallel to this, a novelty discovered by the site deskmodder.de on Thursday (26) is the new widget for “Link to Mobile” featureformerly known as “Your Phone”, which allows you to pair an Android device to your PC.

Those running its version 1.23011.73.0 will be able to add a widget to the tray that displays cell phone notifications, battery status, and other information.

It is possible that the new widgets will be available to all users soon, making the tray much more useful with elements that go beyond news linked to MSN. Other improvements that should hit the platform soon include fixes to the layout that still has traces of Windows 10 and a redesign of the File Explorer.
