Microsoft has released the KB5027231 update for Windows 11which has become mandatory for all users of the operating system, bringing numerous bug fixes and performance improvements.

Solution to important problems

“Document not saved” error

The main issue addressed in this update is an annoying “Document not saved” error, which occurred when saving, copying or attaching files, especially in 32 bit applications. This issue caused significant inconvenience for users, primarily those using commercial or enterprise security software.

Problems with the Windows Kernel

In addition, an issue with the windows kernel associated with CVE-2023-32019, a bug that allowed an authenticated user to exploit an elevated privilege information disclosure vulnerability.

New features

Improvements to OneDrive and Bluetooth Low Energy Audio

The KB5027231 update is not only focused on fixes, but also brings new functionality. Now, users can see the total storage capacity of your Microsoft OneDrive subscriptions on the accounts page in the settings app. Also, add the Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) Audiowhich improves sound quality and battery life when paired with headphones or earphones that support this technology.

Multiple fixes and improvements

The Windows 11 update also addresses other issues affecting Narrator, setting up tabs in IE-mode sites, installing certain MFPs, and playing audio on devices with certain processors. Regarding improvements, several related to system performance and not linked to security have been introduced. For example, problems with searchindexer.exe, accessibility to SMB shared folders, and unexpected password expiration notices will be avoided, among others.
