Windows 10: Microsoft postpones the launch of the May 2020 Update? The possible new date

Just when the May 2020 Update for Windows 10 seemed close to launching, a cold shower arrives. Indeed, according to reports, Microsoft may postpone the launch of the major update for your operating system due to some security issues.

According to some reports, Microsoft initially planned to deliver the update to developers and production partners on April 28, and then release it to the public on May 12. Following the discovery of a zero-day exploit, however, the company preferred to postpone everything until 5 and 28 May respectively, as Redmond’s engineers would like to put an update with the already corrected flaw in the hands of users.

The calendar could, therefore, be as follows:

  • Release to OEMs and manufacturers: May 5;
  • Developer release: May 12;
  • General availability: May 28th.

So if you plan to test the update in advance, you will still have to wait at least May 12th. However, you will need to register for the Insider program and download the package through the Settings, Update and Security menu and Windows Insider.

Sull ‘zero-day exploit which caused this postponement, however, not much information was disclosed for safety reasons. We will keep you updated as soon as further information is available, as you always stay on these pages.
