The Windows antivirus Defender has mistakenly classified Chrome, Edge & Co. as Trojans.
For example, if you open the Chrome, Edge or Discord applications under Windows, Microsoft’s virus protection Defender jumped on many users and warned of a Trojan with the identifier “Win32/Hive.ZY”. Don’t panic, this is a false alarm that has now been fixed with an update. If you get this message, your PC is not at risk.
False alarm ironed out
The problem was a bug in signature update 1.373.1508.0. Equipped with this, the scanner sounded the alarm for every application developed with the Electron framework. To solve the problem, Microsoft now has the auto-installing one Signature update 1.373.1518.0 provided.
Under “Windows Security”, “Updates for Virus & Threat Protection”, “Check for Updates” you can check the status of Defender. Enterprise customers should ensure that at least 1.373.1537.0 is installed.
