WhatsApp will add its particular ‘Ctrl. + Z’ for the states that we publish, for what?

The stories Instagram are one of the most popular content that exists today and a way to share ideas, thoughts or whatever comes to mind, without worrying about their permanence in our profile: after 24 hours they will say goodbye and will no longer be available. That success led to other apps to adopt this format (original from Snapchat) which includes WhatsApp, which also shares ownership with Instagram, Facebook.

In the app couriers are known as state and they are precisely that. Contents with expiration date that can be consulted through the section specific that appears in the bottom left in the apps for iOS and Android. Haven’t you noticed her? Well, there you have it in case you want to communicate to your contacts, or rather, to those who have you on their agenda, a good news or any other idea.

What is that undo?

As the guys at WABetAInfo have discovered, the Android WhatsApp betas (specifically the 2.21.240.17) contain a new function of undo that we can press while our status is being published. That is to say, at the moment in which the application is uploading that content, so once in view of everyone we will no longer be able to correct anything, only delete.

In view of how it works, it seems that they have copied that same function undo from Twitter so it is possible to prevent a tweet with a serious error from being published on the social network. It is an interval of a few seconds but it serves to detect if we are uploading some content with errors or, simply, we have just reconsidered and we do not see that it is advisable to show something like this to the world.

As we tell you, is not a function of undo permanent even if the state has been up for a long time rather, it is limited to that moment of publication. Hopefully, in any case, that in the future WhatsApp will give us more of a field to avoid having to choose between keeping something with errors or deleting it directly without any possibility of editing the content. A somewhat extreme decision that, we suppose, will be supported by some technical justification that prevents programming a simpler tool.

For now, and as with all the improvements that WhatsApp shows in its beta versions, we will have to wait a few weeks until seeing it implemented in the releases official iOS and Android. Moment from which we will have an alternative (short and almost fleeting) to modify something that we want to publish in our state.
