In addition to allowing you to change captions for images and other forwarded files, WhatsApp is also receiving adjustments to adapt to Channels. The novelty is present in the latest beta version available for iOS.
According to the folks at WABetaInfo, the Status tab should now be called “Updates” since Channels should be listed here.
WhatsApp Channels should work similarly to what is offered on Telegram, as WhatsApp should hide the phone number and information of users who participate in a channel.
See below that WhatsApp has also already tested the new feature warning message.
For those concerned about privacy, the developers of WABetaInfo were also able to confirm that messages sent within a channel will be protected by encryption.
Another important detail worth mentioning is that WhatsApp will not automatically subscribe users to channels. On the contrary, the user will be able to search for the channel that most interests him directly in the “Updates” tab.
All channels must have a public identifier so that it can be listed in the messenger’s internal search engine.
For now, the Channels are still being tested and there is no forecast for the news to be officially released to the public in the stable version.
