WhatsApp is testing a new bottom navigation bar on Android, and now the app is also getting a revamped sidebar on macOS. The new version shows icons instead of labels, making the screen space more usable and similar to what we see in Windows.
According to WABetaInfo, the new sidebar for macOS is available in version 23.7.0.78 of the application for Apple computers.
As we can see below, the application has icons that match macOS, so we still find some differences between the version for this system and for Windows, which does not have the File and Favorites icon, but does contain the Status icon.
The update is already available for some users who signed up for WhatsApp Beta testing through TestFlight for macOS and should be rolled out to more people in the coming days.
Other recent additions to the Meta app also include temporary groups, more UI changes on iPhone, dedicated tab for protected conversations, and more.
