WhatsApp for Android is apparently developing a new feature that allows users to create channels for sharing news and bulletins. This information was disclosed this Thursday (30th) by the WABetaInfo team, a portal specialized in discovering experimental functions in Meta’s messenger.

As a screenshot shows, creating the section newsletter (“News Bulletin”, in Portuguese) is similar to that of groups, being possible to insert the name and cover photo of the space. Apparently, this news is a kind of channel for the dissemination of important content, possibly something similar to what we find on Telegram.

The Newsletter was identified in version 2.23.7.17 of WhatsApp, however, we do not know if subscribers to the beta channel have access to this compilation or if there is a restriction on availability for now. The newsletter will be present in the Status tab — which will have its interface redesigned — allowing the application user to subscribe to receive news by messenger.

The expectation is that the developer will launch this novelty for beta testers soon, but we still don’t know when this can happen. It is also important to note that the fact that a tool appears in the development version does not mean that it will reach the entire community through the stable channel.
