WhatsApp is not exactly going through one of the best times, given the recent “stampede” from the platform. In fact, the question of sharing data with Facebook does not seem to have gone down to some users, who have decided to move towards other shores. However, WhatsApp is not there and wants to explain the situation.
In particular, according to what is reported by Engadget and The Verge and as you can see in the screenshots at the bottom of the news, the well-known instant messaging platform is trying to inform users about privacy through states. For the uninitiated, the latter are generally used in a similar way to Instagram Stories by WhatsApp users.
The initiative of the Facebook-owned platform is already active also in Italy: just open WhatsApp, go to the “Status” tab and take a look at the privacy statuses. The latter seem to disappear after a certain period of time following the display, but don’t worry: you can deepen the subject and find all the details of the case directly on the official WhatsApp portal.
The choice of the well-known platform to launch an initiative of this type comes following the controversy that caused the postponement of the privacy update. In short, WhatsApp is trying to provide additional tools to users to inform themselves about what the update will bring with it, which for the moment is set for May 15, 2021.
