One of the biggest problems that WhatsApp has to date is that sharing images with the application -in any of its versions- causes the quality of these to drop considerably. Well, there is already concrete evidence that this, luckily, will change to the delight of users. The compression to which the images are subjected when they are sent by the application is very strong, something logical if one takes into account the restrictions that until not long ago were in place to share large files (which now do not exist, since they can be send files up to 2GB). Therefore, keeping this did not make much sense and the company owned by Meta must have thought the same thing because they are close to changing it. Consequently, the photos will remain exactly the same as in the original. What has been seen in the WhatsApp application The first thing to say is that it is in the test version of the app, specifically for Android, where the data has appeared that shows that the change we are talking about is going to be a reality in not much time. In this way, what had been speculating that would happen has become a reality, since in the interface to share an image it has been possible to see a new element that is completely enlightening. In the image that we have left before this paragraph, you can see that in the upper ribbon of options that exists in the WhatsApp application, when an image is managed, you can see an icon called HD. By pressing it, it will be possible to choose to keep the current sharing method (that is, keep compression to save data); or, failing that, use a higher definition. It does not point to whether it will be exactly the original or there may be some change. But taking into account what exists in the competition, such as Telegram, it is normal to leave things with the same quality as in the original. Good news, but you have to be careful. It’s a good thing that you don’t change anything, because if you want to send a photo to a contact to print it out for framing, compression is something you can’t use – because the loss of quality and the appearance of noise is something that always happens. But, yes, if it is allowed to be sent with high resolutions, users will have to check the storage of the terminal from time to time, because these files will be much larger and, therefore, over time they can be issues. Now, all that remains is to wait for WhatsApp to decide to activate this function for everyone, which we do not believe will take a long time, since the operation is very good according to the information that has been known. >
